Gypsum tree lighting a bright success

Gypsum's first tree lighting ceremony was a big success. The hot cocoa was piping, the cookies were sweet and the crafts were one-of-a-kind and very unique. From now on, the ceremony will be an annual event on the first Friday in December on the front lawn of the Gypsum Public Library.

This year, the event hosted more than 75 parents and children from Gypsum. Thank you to the parents and children who braved the cold and weathered the flurries to sing holiday carols with us as we lit the 2012 Memory Tree in front of the Gypsum Public Library. The Gypsum Public Library has a full calendar of events for children and adults. You can learn more about opportunities offered at the library by going to or calling 970-524-5080. Read. Learn. Grow. Gypsum Public Library.

The Gypsum Library and Town of Gypsum staff would like to wish you happy holidays, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

I would like to thank the following people for their help: Gypsum Town Council and Town Manager's Office; Gypsum Public Works and Parks Department; Gypsum Public Library staff; Peggy Jensen; Lana Gallegos; and Kearstan Sanders.

Please take a moment to look at the wonderful pictures on the Town of Gypsum Facebook page.
