On the Hill video ski report: Powder aplenty on Harrier at Beaver Creek

Beaver Creek official report: 4 inches in the last 24 hours.

Vail Daily field report: At least a foot of fresh snow on the lower part of Harrier, which Ski Patrol opened for the first time this season just after 10 a.m.

Liftline status:-Beaver Creek's lift lines were nonexistent Wednesday morning. There were no lines at Chairs 6 and 8 from 9-11 a.m.

Run of the day: Harrier. The run is soft and snow gets deeper toward the bottom, where it's more protected from the wind. Snow was as deep as 2 feet in places on Harrier's first day open this season.

Weather: Cold and windy.

Breakdown: Any new terrain openings on a powder day are where you want to be. With 4 inches of new snow and an untouched run, the powder should stick around all day and into tomorrow. Latigo was also plenty soft but there were still icy patches in sections. Overall, Beaver Creek was skiing beautifully Wednesday and the snow continued to fall throughout the morning.

Forecast: Another 1 to 3 inches is expected this afternoon. Then the storm clears out and sunshine is expected through the rest of the week and throughout the weekend.

This edition of On the Hill was shot with a GoPro HERO2,
