BEAVER CREEK - Made famous by shows such as "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," "Late Night with David Letterman" and NBC's "America's Got Talent," Gregory Popovich takes the Vilar Performing Arts Center stage on Dec. 27 at 6:30 p.m. and Dec. 28 at 4:30 and 7:30 p.m.
Popovich's Comedy Pet Theater is made up of an incredible cast of dogs and cats rescued from animal shelters and transformed into stars.
The show presents a unique blend of comedy, world-championship juggling and the extraordinary talents of performing pets, sure to delight audiences of all ages to Beaver Creek during Christmas week.
A juggler by trade and a clown at heart, Popovich couples his circus act with his cast of animals trained to do incredible things.
Audience members are not only shocked by what these animals are capable of, but laugh out loud throughout the performance.
"I told people this the first time we hosted Popovich and I will say it again - this is not another hokey clown show," said Kris Sabel, executive director of the Vilar Center. "We bring the best-in-class entertainers to the Vilar Center with every type of show that we present, and Gregory Popovich is no exception. He is the best at what he does, and his shows 'wow' audiences young and old."
Popovich is a fifth-generation circus performer who learned early on how to develop strong bonds with animals.
He released his first book, "You CAN Train Your Cat," in 2009 and has been featured in several late night shows, as well as USA Today and People Magazine.
His performances will feature a cast of housecats, dogs and parrots ... even geese and mice.
Critics describe the show as a unique blend of physical comedy and world-champion juggling, showcasing the talents of more than 30 pets.
Tickets for the show are still available for all three performance times. They can be purchased online at vilarpac.org, by phone at 970-845-TIXS or in person at the box office in Beaver Creek.
