EDWARDS - When you're ready for a break from the cold, Alpine Arts Center is the perfect way to spend a morning or an afternoon getting creative during vacation. From Vacation Art Camps to "Cocktails & Canvas," "Beginning Ceramics" and "Paint Pottery," Alpine Arts Center offers classes and drop-in activities for all ages.Kids Vacation Art Camps provide a drop-off option for children ages 3 to 6 and 7 to 12 every morning from 9 a.m. to noon, and every afternoon from 1 to 4 p.m. for ages 7 to 12. For flexibility, parents can register their children for individual days or multiple art camp sessions between now and Jan. 4. "Within a single camp session, children are exposed to multiple mediums such as painting, clay, sculpture, and drawing," said Lauren Merrill, owner of Alpine Arts Center. "Our instructors are there to guide children through projects and make sure they are learning new art skills and having fun." For Vacation Art Camps, reservations are recommended as space fills quickly. For adults, Alpine Arts Center offers "Cocktails & Canvas" or "Cocktails & Clay" events every Wednesday and Saturday night, as well as a regular schedule of classes and private lessons. The cocktails classes are a great alternative to dinner and a movie, designed for artists of all levels, especially beginners. An instructor guides the group through a featured project of the night, which is either an acrylic painting on canvas or a clay sculpture. Beer and wine are served at Alpine Arts Center's bar, and at the end of the class participants have a finished masterpiece to take home. For featured projects and to register, see Alpine Arts Center's online event calendar. In addition to scheduled classes, drop-in hours over vacation are seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. for activities such as paint pottery, crafts, clay and painting. Alpine Arts Center will help drop-in customers select a project that can be worked on independently for up to a few hours. Drop-in pricing is $12 per participant plus materials. For more information on Alpine Arts Center programs and special vacation activities, visit the website at www.alpineartscenter.org or call 970-926-2732.
