I read with sadness about the passing of Claudia Nelson, with whom I worked at the Avon Beaver Creek Times. I was alleged to be the managing editor, if I recall those years correctly, but it was Claudia who caught the egregious mistakes - and the small ones too - and so helped us all put out a far more professional publication.
She was without doubt one of the best proofreaders I have ever worked with, though her journalistic skills stretched far beyond that. And as the Vail Daily obituary noted, she was as gentle in her spoken corrections as she was strict with her red pencil.
My condolences to her family, and my thanks to Claudia.
