Starting a book club? Choices are in the bag

"It's in the bag" book club kits are one of the many excellent services provided by Eagle Valley Library District for our local book clubs. If you are a member of one of the many book discussion groups in the valley, you may already be aware of these ready-made bags of popular, discussion provoking titles.

The kits, which are designed for the specific needs of book clubs, contain ten paperbacks of a featured title, along with a notebook including a sign-out sheet, discussion questions, book reviews and author interviews/biographical material. All of this is contained in a nice, sturdy, blue canvas bag.

One designated person of a book club checks out the bag and signs out the individual copies to book club members. This is much easier than having members buy their own books or wait for a library copy to become available.

If you're thinking of beginning your own book club, the library has just what you need to get started. Independent book clubs outside of the library can check out these bags for up to six weeks. Call Amy G. or Michelle M. at the Avon Library (949-6797) to schedule one for your group.

A few of the many book club kit titles available include "Great Gatsby" by F. Scott Fitzgerald, "Art of Racing in the Rain" by Garth Stein, "The Help" by Kathryn Stockett, and "The Dovekeepers" by Alice Hoffman. To see a list of our complete selection, visit your nearest library and ask for a brochure, or visit our website at

Or maybe you would like to join an existing book club? Each district library holds a monthly book club meeting open to the public. Here's the schedule and upcoming title selection at each library.
