What goods or services do you provide? Creative Consignments is a handmade gift boutique that specializes in selling artisans' creations for them, so they can focus on creating. Artisans send us what they want to sell and we photograph, edit, post, market, host, ship and invoice for them for a percentage of the final sales price.
What's new or exciting at your place? The most exciting thing about Creative Consignments is networking with so many wonderful and talented artisans. I've met incredible people and have made a few good friends in the process. I've also recently been in contact with an organization that makes handmade items to support an orphanage out of Laredo, Texas. We are going to sell some of their creations at no charge and try to help a wonderful cause. We'd love to expand and help more organizations like this.
What strategy do you use to differentiate your business from your competition? As far as I know, we are the only company that offers the services we provide. There are a ton of websites that will allow artisans to open their own storefront, but they ultimately have to do everything themselves. We take on that work so that artisans can work at what they do best.
What philosophy do you follow in dealing with your customers? What can your customers expect from you? Our customers can expect high quality merchandise that is unique and not mass-produced, that makes less of an impact on the environment and that will last a lot longer than most things you buy at the store. We also follow that up with timely shipping and great customer service. If our customers are not satisfied for any reason, we will do whatever we can to accommodate them until they are completely satisfied.
Tell us a little about your background, education and experience: I worked as a graphic designer in Dallas for 15 years before moving to Eagle. I worked on print ads, packaging, catalogs, newspaper, points of purchase, web design, and everything in between. That experience has given me the skills to be able to do what I'm doing now.
What is the most humorous thing that has happened at your business since you opened? I get a lot of calls from people wanting me to sell their used goods. A guy called me up one day and said he was delivering a fur coat to me from California and I needed to sell if for at least $850. Since we do everything online, it's pretty tame around here.
