Elbert Bivins becomes certified accountant for construction industry

Certified Public Accountant J. Elbert Bivins IV recently received a professional designation by the Construction Financial Management Association (CFMA). The designation of Certified Construction Industry Financial Professional (CCIFP) is the only industry recognized certification that a financial professional can obtain demonstrating a specialized knowledge in the construction industry. This knowledge is important when supplying financial statements to sureties and banks as well as helping contractors handle complex revenue recognition methods for both industry specific tax and financial reporting purposes.

J. Elbert Bivins, CPA, CCIFP, is a partner in Bivins and Bunyak CPAs, PLLC, with offices in Denver and Avon. Jon Bunyak and Reed Sellers of the firm have also earned this designation. Elbert has 10 years of public accounting experience. As the construction industry is rebuilding from the recent downturn, Elbert noticed the financial needs for these clients were also changing. He sought the designation to help assist contractors with their financial relationships and prepare for tax reporting opportunities.

"Successful contractors want and need more specialized financial assistance to insure profits and build a strong company that can handle fluctuation in the economy," said Bivins. "I want to provide the highest level of expertise and this designation and knowledge gives my clients an edge to help them become leaders as the construction industry rebuilds."

The CFMA is a national organization dedicated to promoting excellence and best practices in construction financial management. The CCIFP certification validates the experience and knowledge of the construction financial professional. The CCIFP designation is given to professionals who meet the organization's formal education requirements, professional requirements, verification of work experience and adherence to the ICCIFP's Code of Ethics and has passed the CCIFP examination.
