Eagle town manager search nets 40 applicants

It's something Eagle hasn't had to do for nearly three decades - look for a new town manager.

With longtime Eagle Town Manager Willy Powell planning his retirement this summer, the Eagle Town Board began advertising for his successor late last year. As of the application deadline on Jan. 15, the search netted 40 candidates.

In its vacancy announcement, the town board noted that the current manager has served for 28 years.

"The Eagle Board of Trustees desires to recruit candidates for the manager position who demonstrate effective administrative, leadership and communication skills. Eagle is a growing and dynamic municipality, located in the heart of the Rockies," noted the announcement.

Job requirements were listed as a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; preferred master's degree in business or public administration or related field; six years of progressively responsible management experience; and demonstrated skills in leadership, administration, budgeting, motivating and managing people, and working effectively with the general public.

The advertised salary range is $110,000 to $125,000 annually with retirement and medical insurance benefits.

The manager search committee met Tuesday night to discuss screening the applicants and narrowing the field down to a set of semifinalists.
