County cops

Deputies cited a 42-year-old man for careless driving after he drove onto the Beaver Creek Golf Course and got stuck Jan. 26.

The man said he was going to pick someone up but the gate on Prater Road wouldn't lift. He tried to drive around it on the golf course, not realizing how deep the snow was.

A tow truck pulled out the Chevy Suburban. The man was very apologetic and offered to pay for any damages.

A resident of Arlington Place in Edwards noticed the sliding glass door was left open on a neighbor's house around Jan. 30 and contacted the owner.

The owner told deputies that a bag of jewelry that also contained gold coins was missing. She said she had rented the place to a man with good references but he had to move and she suspected he let friends and family members stay there. She last saw the bag of items last year.

The missing valuables included three South African Krugerran gold coins worth $1,500 each, a pearl necklace worth $3,500, a gold rope necklace worth $3,500 and a pair of earrings worth $450 that had two pearls on each stud.
