"Flower Cart" by Joan Norris on view at Tony Newlin Gallery. The third annual Invitational Art Sled Exhibition & Silent Auction is on display through Feb. 14 at the second level art galleries in Solaris, Vail Village.
Norris, a full time painter with a studio and the Norris Lamont Gallery in Red Cliff, has been in the valley since 1975. She received a bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder and taught at Colorado Mountain College for 18 years. She regularly exhibits her paintings at the Vail Public Library and the Farmers Market in Vail Village. She is a true colorist. Vibrant blossoms and flowers bursting with color are a recurring theme in her work. As a plein air artist, she often finds herself working in the local gardens of the Vail Valley. The original purpose of her art sled, which was found in an antique shop in northern Minnesota, was for delivering newspapers. Joan transformed it into a lively Flower Cart.
