Both lanes re-open after fatal semi-truck crash near Wolcott

WOLCOTT, Colorado - A 61-year-old Idaho man died Wednesday when the semi-truck he was driving rolled over on Interstate 70 near Wolcott.

The man, whose name is being held pending notification of his family, was driving a semi-truck westbound near milepost 155 when his truck drifted off the left side of the road, overcorrected and then rolled onto its left side. The driver was pronounced dead on scene.

The crash occurred at approximately 3 p.m., and the cause was still under investigation Wednesday evening. The westbound lanes of the interstate remained closed until one lane reopened at around 7:30 p.m. Both were reopened by 11:30 p.m.

Traffic was diverted onto Highway 6 from Wolcott to Eagle during the closure. The truck, owned by Navajo Trucking, was hauling beer from Golden.

The Greater Eagle Fire Protection District, Eagle River Fire District, Eagle County Ambulance District and the Colorado Department of Transportation responded to the scene with the Colorado State Patrol. Big Steve's Towing recovered the semi-truck.
