Local artist Jim Cotter part of 'Put a Ring on It' exhibit

San Diego - Jim Cotter, a local artist, jeweler and owner of the J.Cotter Gallery, was asked to participate in "Put a Ring on It," an exhibition curated and hosted by the Taboo Gallery. Cotter is one of the artists to be included in this very unique show. An array of styles and jewelry techniques will be incorporated into the work on display.

The aritsts each bring a distinctive point of view to the table, with the format of a ring being one of the only things in common among them. Stones, gold, silver, steel and humor are among the many elements of the work in this collection. There are enough styles and ethics to appeal to its entire audience.

Cotter's rings portray the artist's recent work and point of view. A few of these rings incorporate concrete as a setting technique, which Cotter has become well-known for and accredited with pioneering.

A few of the other rings on display incorporate an altered coin, another theme in Cotter's work.

Each of these coins have been erased of everything but a depiction of a diamond and are etched "It's a diamond, right?" and "I'll get you a bigger one someday." This grouping of Cotter pieces adds elements of creativity, surprise and humor to the "Put a Ring on It" exhibit.

Cotter is accompanied by other artists on display at the J.Cotter Galleries in Vail and Beaver Creek, such as Sydney Lynch, Janice Kerman, Kristin Lora and Jeff and Susan Wise. This show will run through March 22.

To see more of Cotter's one of-a-kind wearable art jewelry, visit either one of the J. Cotter Galleries in Vail or Beaver Creek.
