Full agenda announced for energy forum

BEAVER CREEK, Colorado - Stanford University's Precourt Institute for Energy and Precourt Energy Efficiency Center, in conjunction with the Vail Valley Foundation, have released the full agenda for this year's Vail Global Energy Forum, scheduled in Beaver Creek March 2-3.

Kicking off March 2 with introductions from the Vail Global Energy Forum Executive Director Carl Colby and Vail Resorts Chief Sustainability Officer Mark Gasta, Day One will feature an opening keynote on "Promises and Challenges for the Energy Economy" by Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper

It will also feature presentations and a panel discussion on energy efficiency led by James Sweeney, Precourt Energy Efficiency Center, Stanford University; Tom Siebel, founder, president and CEO of C3 Energy; and Energy Innovation presentations and a panel discussion led by Sally Benson, director of the Global Climate and Energy Project at Stanford University, and Arun Majumdar, director of energy initiatives for Google.org and former director of U.S. Department of Energy Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy.

Day Two will feature presentations by U.S. Sen. Jeff Bingaman (D-New Mexico), recent chairman of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee on U.S. Energy Independence, followed by Admiral Gary Roughead, former chief of U.S. naval operations on energy innovations in the military. Additionally, hydraulic fracturing presentations by Mark Zoback, professor, Department of Geophysics, School of Earth Sciences at Stanford University, and Jim Brown, president, Western Hemisphere, Halliburton, will take place, followed by panel discussions on natural gas and the energy financial markets.
