Vail Daily letter: Thanks for everything

Thanks to our wonderful community sponsors, we had a lot of fun at the WECMRD Free Family Fun Fair on Saturday, Feb. 9, in Eagle.

The town of Gypsum, town of Eagle, Bighorn Toyota, American Furniture Warehouse, Taco Bell and Wells Fargo Bank supported and played with us, too.

Sheryl Staten, director of Eagle Pool and Ice Rink, blew up a WECMRD bouncy castle and set out a putting game.

Jennifer and Adam Trujillo, owners of Jump to It Inflatables in Gypsum, powered up their huge and hugely popular obstacle course.

The friendly AirBound guys set up a quad bungee, climbing wall and giant slide. For the first time ever, giant Zorb balls came to the fair, courtesy of American Furniture Warehouse - they were a hit!

Patrick Tvarkunas, of No Bull Entertainment in Eagle, brought his popular mechanical bull. The longest lines weren't for the physical activities, rather for gifted face painters, locally born and raised Claire Thompson and her friend Lindsay Roome and the balloon sculptors and characters from Slippery Slope Productions of Denver.

Safety education is always a key component of our Fun Fair events. Big-time kudos go to Tom Wagenlander, of Greater Eagle Fire Protection District, and his staff and the friendly folks of Eagle County Paramedics who drove in a fire truck and ambulance respectively.

Eagle County Ambulance District, in partnership with Vail Valley Medical Center, gave away bike helmets to attendees.

One of the highlights of every Fun Fair is demonstrations by and for kids! Special thanks go to WECMRD (gymnastics), Studio8100 (dance) and Inyodo Martial Arts. The talented Eagle Valley High School musical cast of "Grease" sang a couple of hits from the popular show - be sure to catch the entire show in mid-March.

We also salute our volunteers: Eagle Valley High School sophomores Morgan Genelin, Kaitlyn Laidman and Victoria Williams.

Finally, the event was an operational success due to Tanya Dahlseid and Bill Beasley and his crew at Eagle County Facilities. The snow plows were out two hours before the start of the event clearing the parking lot, and the Fun Fair arena beautifully accommodated all of our activities and guests.

The Fun Fair is truly one of our favorite events. Our sponsors, vendors, participants and volunteers' helpfulness and good cheer supports our mission of producing fun and friendly events for our listeners, and beyond.
