Community partners announce schedule for One Book, One Valley reading effort

Let's read together ... Several partnering organizations are hosting a lineup of book-related events for this year's Eagle Valley "One Book, One Valley" initiative.

One Book, One Valley is a valleywide reading and discussion program that encourages all residents to read the same book at the same time to create a community book club. This years' book selection for One Book, One Valley is "Into the Beautiful North" by Luis Alberto Urrea. The lineup of events is highlighted by two exciting evenings at Colorado Mountain College: a panel discussion of the book on Friday, March 22, and a live theater event with the Vail Valley Theater Company on Tuesday, April 2.

Here is the full schedule of One Book, One Valley events:

• Book Discussion: Town of Vail Public Library, Wednesday, March 13, 5 p.m.

• Book Discussion in Spanish: Eagle Public Library, Saturday, March 16, 2 p.m.

• Book Discussion: Avon Public Library, Thursday, March 21, 6:30 p.m.

• Panel Discussion featuring Jan Attoma, CMC Professor of ESL; Carol Koch, CMC Assoc. Professor of Spanish; Katy Walker, CMC Librarian; and Megan McGee Bonta, from Catholic Charities: Colorado Mountain College in Edwards, Friday, March 22, 6 p.m.

• Book Discussion: Eagle Public Library, Monday, March 25, 6:30 p.m.

• Theater Performance featuring the Vail Valley Theater Company: Colorado Mountain College, Tuesday, April 2, 6 p.m.

• Book Discussion: Gypsum Public Library, Monday, April 15, 6:30 p.m.

• Film Screening of "Sin Nombre" (R): Avon Public Library, Sunday, March 17, 2 p.m.

• Film Screening of "The Magnificent Seven" (NR): Town of Vail Public Library, Wednesday, March 20, 5:30 p.m.

• Film Screening of "The Magnificent Seven" (NR): Eagle Public Library, Sunday, April 21, 2 p.m.

One Book, One Valley is presented by The Bookworm of Edwards, Colorado Mountain College, Eagle Valley Library District, and Town of Vail Public Library.
