A brief interview with a past Bright Future Foundation client:
How has Bright Future Foundation helped you and your family?
"I am a single mom of three children, who moved with my American husband to the U.S. from Europe. His behavior was extremely controlling since the beginning of our marriage and eventually evolved to violence. As a stay-at-home mom, I had no access to bank accounts, no American driver's license. My husband told me that nobody would listen to me if I called the police. I was afraid and ashamed. A friend from a church told me about the BFF. I got hope that my family's lives could change for better."
What Bright Future Foundation programs did you find most beneficial?
"For me, the financial literacy program, transitional housing, legal advocacy and counseling for my children were the most helpful. "
What do you recommend to others experiencing domestic violence and/or sexual assault?
"Contact the Bright Future Foundation. Domestic violence is not just physical abuse with broken bones and bruises. The most important thing is to admit that we are victims and need help. This help is available through the BFF. They really change people's lives. I am the best example!"
