Vail Daily column: Join the Vail Valley Partnership

Vail Valley Partnership is committed to helping our members succeed by driving destination tourism, leading regional economic development efforts and providing direct chamber of commerce benefits to our member organizations.

Our mission is to take the leadership role to create and manage collaborative programs that encourage economic development and result in increased destination tourism in Eagle County. It's a role we take seriously - the collaboration, the efforts to increase our economic vitality and the various efforts to increase tourism to our community.

In fact, the Partnership provides wide-ranging marketing benefits, cost-savings programs, regular networking opportunities and valuable educational programming to drive business efforts here in the Vail Valley. The Partnership has launched a robust "shop local" initiative in 2013 to enhance the value of membership and spotlight our business-to-business members and we have added to our group sales team to increase our destination tourism impacts via groups and meetings. We're also active in the efforts to increase air service into the Eagle County Regional Airport, benefiting our business community via both direct and indirect impacts.

As a private not-for-profit corporation, business membership is vital to our efforts and helps support our regional programming such as the Health and Wellness Initiative, the Economic Council of Eagle County, the Sports and Event Coalition and the Vail Valley Merchant Alliance. These collaborative, regional programs are all designed to bring together various stakeholders throughout the valley to work together for the benefit of our community. It is our belief that we are stronger collectively than any of us is individually.

The Partnership will host upwards of 35 local events, from After-Hours Business Mixers to Breakfast Scramblers, from educational programs to Leads Groups. Our chamber events and signature programs provide members with great opportunities to get to know new people and expand their prospect base. These business-to-business events are fun ways to help our members meet potential customers, clients and partners - and directly generate new business leads.

With membership in Vail Valley Partnership, your business can reach potential clients and customers through member exclusive advertising and opportunities for business-to-business advertising and publicity. We offer media benefits, newsletter inclusion and social media exposure to our member businesses - in addition to our website listings and shop local promotions.

Your VVP membership helps to ensure that Eagle County business interests are represented throughout the state via the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade, the Colorado Tourism Office, the Colorado Association of Destination Marketing Organizations, the Tourism Industry Association of Colorado and more. While not as tangible as the direct business benefits, it's good to know that there is a group looking our for business community on a regional and state level.

More directly benefiting the local community, the Partnership remains dedicated to bringing more visitors to Eagle County via our leisure sales and our group and meeting sales efforts. More people in our valley results in more opportunities for local businesses to succeed, growing the proverbial pie for businesses in every sector of our economy. With an estimated economic impact of $70 million in 2012, we're helping grow the economy so all businesses can benefit.

It's quite the list of benefits available to our members (we encourage you to try to find a business organization in Colorado with as comprehensive a list of member benefits) and hopefully the above reasons are enough for your business to join the Vail Valley Partnership.

But if not, you should know that research points out that consumers are more likely to do business with a company if it's a member of their local chamber of commerce. According to a research study by The Shapiro Group, Inc. and Market Street Services, when consumers know that a small business is a member of their local chamber of commerce, the business enjoys a 44 percent increase in its consumer favorability rating, a 51 percent increase in consumer awareness, a 57 percent increase in its local reputation and a 63 percent increase in the likelihood that consumers will patronize the business in the future.

Those are pretty good odds and reason enough to get involved.
