Holiday Brew raises $8,000 for Eagle County's Salvation Army

EAGLE COUNTY, Colorado - For the second year in a row, several locally based companies joined forces to raise money for Eagle County's Salvation Army over the holidays. Ski Country and Crazy Mountain Brewery, along with Bighorn Toyota of Glenwood Springs and Leadfoot Linda's of Eagle-Vail, came together to create Ski Country Holiday Brew, a special release extra pale ale conjured by brewer Kevin Selvy of Crazy Mountain Brewery.

The beer debuted at a kick-off party at the Crazy Mountain Brewery Tasting Room after Thanksgiving - kegs were in place throughout the holidays at these restaurants across the Ski Country listening area: Old Kentucky Tavern, Eagle; Pazzo's, Eagle; The Tap Room, Vail; Montanas, Avon; Route 6, Eagle Vail; The Arapahoe Cafe, Dillon; Red Mountain Grill, Avon and Silverthorne; Westside Cafe, Vail. These community restaurants agreed to donate 100 percent of the proceeds from beer sold!

A total of $8,000 was raised for the Salvation Army during the 2012 holiday season, more than double the $3,750 raised in 2011. Funds will support the Salvation Army's food pantry, emergency assistance program, emergency shelters and Christmas food basket program.

Tsu Wolin-Brown, executive director of the Salvation Army, accepted the check today in the Ski Country studio last week, saying, "The critical need for food does not go away after the holidays and we are truly thankful for these donations."

"We'll shoot for $10K in 2013!" said Holli Snyder, general manager of Ski Country. "Drinking beer for charity is an innovative concept, and we hope to continue this tradition for years to come. We know that our listeners are going to drink beer anyway - why not drink a beer that gives back 100 percent of the cost of the beer to our local community?"
