Current county commissioner, current town engineer among Eagle manager finalists

Tuesday night the Eagle Town Board announced the three finalists for Eagle Town Manager.

Jon Stavney, current Eagle County Commissioner and former Eagle Mayor; Tom Gosoirowski, current Eagle Town Engineer; and Ryan Mahoney, current town manager in Delores, will vie for the position.

Stavney was elected to the Eagle Town Board in 1998. He served as a board member for six years prior to his election as Eagle Mayor. He was elected as an Eagle County Commissioner in 2004 and re-elected in 2008.

Gosoirowski has been employed as Eagle Town Engineer for 12 years.

Town board member Joe Knabel, who has served as chairman for the town manager search subcommittee, announced the finalists during the regular board meeting. He noted that the board hopes to hire the new town manager by early April. The successful candidate will then begin work in May and spend one month of transition with longtime Eagle Town Manager Willy Powell.

Knabel noted that the opening, which was announced in December, drew 40 applicants. That field was then narrowed down to six semifinalists, who interviewed with the entire town board last week. Those interviews resulted in selection of the three finalists.

The town's consultant will now conduct thorough background checks on the three candidates. Town board members will also decide whether or not to have a public reception so community members can meet with the finalists.
