VAIL, Colorado - The Vail Town Council will be taking input from the public regarding possible amendments to the Ford Park planning documents during its evening meeting on Tuesday. The item is listed fourth on the meeting agenda which begins at 6 p.m. in the Vail Town Council Chambers, 75 S. Frontage Road.
Members of the public are encouraged to review the documents in advance of the meeting. Included will be a review of the 1985 Ford Park Master Plan and a question as to whether amendments to the-Ford Park Management Plan, adopted in 2012, should be included in the master plan.
The-review follows a Town Council decision earlier this month to withdraw its consent to proceed through the development review process for Phase 2 improvements proposed for the park. The Phase 2 improvements, which had been identified in an amended management plan, had included continued upgrades to the Ford Amphitheater with a covered courtyard, box office expansion and a Ford Family tribute, plus construction of an educational center for the Betty Ford Alpine Gardens and a proposal from town staff to replace the restroom at the playground as well as provide additional exhibit space for public art.
In voting to withdraw consent as owner of the property for review of the Phase 2 projects, council members noted the complexity of the planning documents and identified some inconsistencies as it relates to the community's vision for the park.
