New hotline for reporting abuse or neglect

Eagle County has implemented a new hotline for reporting abuse or neglect of children and adults in the community.

The hotline is staffed by trained caseworkers 24 hours a day. For Eagle Valley residents, the number is 970-328-7720. Residents in the Roaring Fork side of the county can call 970-429-2040.

The system allows community members who suspect abuse or neglect to speak to a caseworker immediately, or to receive a return call within 15 minutes. Those who witness abuse in progress should call 911.

Launch of the hotline coincides with Eagle County's recognition of April as National Child Abuse Prevention Month. The county is reminding residents of the part the community plays in promoting the physical, social and emotional well-being of children and families.
