Vail Vitality Center offers yoga teacher training

VAIL - The Vail Vitality Center is launching its Yoga Alliance registered 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training program starting May 3, taught by Gina Caputo, of Boulder, and Julia Clarke, of Vail. The Integrated Vinyasa Yoga teacher training offers an empowering and dynamic approach to the art and skill of teaching yoga from a place rooted in alignment, energetics and theme. The teacher training program takes place over seven weekends - Friday evening through Sunday evening - between May and August 2013.

"Colorado is what I'd call a 'high prana zone,' where prana is life-force, living energy," Caputo said. "It's not enough for people who live here to experience life second-hand via the Internet and television. Self-discovery and living requires engagement in life. And, I've found that these mountain-living yogis are well-poised to be leaders in a movement to inspire others to be more engaged in the art of living."

In the past, those seeking a teacher training have had to factor in the additional cost of long-distance travel and accommodations. This training offers High Country residents a chance to experience a world-class training in a local setting.

Clarke added the training is appropriate for both aspiring teachers and committed practitioners looking to deepen their experience of yoga.

"You will learn how to teach artful yoga classes through a study of philosophy and texts, anatomy and energetics, Sanskrit and hands-on assists, all with the intention of cultivating a broad and deep base from which to confidently teach with skill, creativity and authenticity," she said.

Caputo is a respected teacher of Vinyasa flow yoga and the former director of two yoga studios and a 500-hour Yoga Teacher Training program she founded in 2004. She is an Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher at the highest level (E-RYT 500) through Yoga Alliance. Clarke teaches Vinyasa flow yoga and Anjali Restorative Yoga and is the yoga director at the Vail Vitality Center, and a certified ayurvedic wellness consultant.

The training spans seven long weekends, beginning on May 3 and costs $2,400. Class times are Fridays from 5 to 8 p.m., and Saturdays and Sundays from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. For exact dates and an application visit www.vailvitalitycenter.com or call 970-476-7960.
