VAIL — A woman has been elected Speaker of the House, there are a rising number of female CEOs at Fortune 500 companies and Hillary Clinton is the latest — but not the first — woman to run for President. This Tuesday evening at the Vail Library, author Jill S. Tietjen will discuss women writers throughout U.S. history and she will sign copies of her book that she co-authored with Charlotte S. Waisman: “Her Story: A Timeline of the Women Who Changed America.”
“We enjoy the rights and freedoms we do today because of these earlier women and their courageous actions,” the authors stated. “Today’s women can do it all because of all the women who came before and on whose shoulders we stand.”
“Her Story” proves it; it offers an illustrated timeline, complete with color visuals and brief summaries of more than 850 women who have inspired change. Waisman and Tietjen have worked to promote the equality and achievements of women, and this book might be considered their capstone.
Tietjen is an author, speaker and electrical engineer. Her published books include the “Setting the Record Straight” series, which explores the history of women’s accomplishments in accounting, engineering and professional achievement. She is the CEO of Technically Speaking, a company specializing in improving opportunities for women and girls to have more career options in technology.
