Saturday’s Taste of Vail bites: The grand foodie finale

VAIL — The 24th annual Taste of Vail wraps up today with a number of seminars and the iconic Grand Tasting and Silent Auction tonight at the Vail Marriott Mountain Resort.

The day starts with an opportunity for guests to expand their knowledge of white wine varietals such as Gruner Veltliner, Grenache Blanc, Pinot Blanc, Gewurztraminer, Marsanne, Roussane and many more. From 10:30 a.m. to noon at The Four Seasons Resort Vail, attendees will join world-class winemakers as they explain the nuances that terroir lends to the personalities expressed in white wines during the Alluring Alternative Expressions of White Wine seminar.

The second seminar of the day continues the exploration of rose wines with wine expert Josh Wesson, best known as the co-founder of retail store Best Cellars in New York City. From 12:45 to 2:15 p.m. at The Four Seasons Resort Vail, participants will be able to sample from regions such as France, Italy, California and Washington while Wesson teaches why rose is the fastest growing wine market segment in the United States at Looking at the World Through Rose Colored Glasses.

Evolution Of Napa Wines

The seminar lineup ends today with the Evolution of Napa Wines, which takes place in the Colorado Ballroom at Vail Marriott Mountain Resort from 2:30 to 4 p.m. Guests are invited to explore some of the crown jewels of Napa as well as the history and evolution of this historical region of California. Enjoy vintages 10 years and older from wineries such as The Hess Collection, La Jota, ZD, HDV, Clos du Val, Grgich and Ladera Wineries.

The Grand Tasting and Silent Auction tops off the festival beginning at 6 p.m. in the Grand Ballroom of the Vail Marriott Mountain Resort. The culmination of the four-day food and wine festival, the Grand Tasting is Taste of Vail’s annual decadent and unparalleled wine and culinary spectacle. The event features all Taste of Vail wineries and restaurants, spirits and beer. Tickets to the Grand Tasting are $175.
