EAGLE — What if you could improve your health and your wealth at the same time this year?
Discover links between your health and wealth habits and learn simple ways to make small changes that can make a big difference in both. Small Steps to Health and Wealth Colorado is a new program offered by Colorado State University Extension that addresses how financial problems can affect your health and how poor health can affect your finances.
Not having success scheduling large chunks of time to work out? Good news: Experts have found that small regular amounts of physical activity can add up to the same health benefits that longer sessions do. So if you don’t have 30 minutes to go for a long walk, try instead to get out for a quick walk three times a day for just 10 minutes.
Are you concerned about not having enough emergency savings? Saving just $5 a day by skipping a visit to your favorite coffee shop, not buying lottery tickets or packing your lunch from home could end up being $1,825 in the bank at the end of the year.
Trying to eat more vegetables? Check the freezer aisle. Frozen vegetables are affordable, quick and easy to use and are almost as nutritious as fresh vegetables. Try adding frozen corn, peas, broccoli, green beans, okra or spinach to some of your favorite dishes, or eat them as a side dish.
The program is hands-on, packed full of useful health and finance tips, and offered in a supportive learning environment. Make 2014 your year to eat healthier, be more active and give your finances a boost.
