Kauit Yoga comes to Avon for workshop in June

AVON — Synergy Center for Wellness is excited to host master teacher De West for a weekend of Kauit yoga, a method of yoga based entirely on healing. During this workshop, participants will cultivate deep awareness of their bodies, learning to uncoil obstructions to allow greater freedom, both physically and spiritually.

Kauit yoga is named after the work of Francisco Kauit, owner and founder of Kauit Yoga School in Curitiba, Brazil.

This is not an athletic form of yoga, but an individualized process of working with one’s own body, mind and nervous system to dissolve blockages. The classes are completely supported by West, who circulates the room constantly. The feeling in the room is one of reverent practice, free of judgment and competition, and it may appear that many individual sessions are going on at the same time.

Kauit yoga establishes an overall sense of well-being in the participants; less physical discomfort and stress, and more energy and openness. This method addresses not just the physical body but the layers of circulatory, lymphatic and nervous systems as well.

As you work with your body, you learn to relate to mind and breath. As Kauit says, relaxing mentally is the key to uncoiling physical blockages.

West is co-owner of Studio Be Yoga in Boulder. Precision, creative sequencing and deep understanding of anatomy contribute to her passion for helping students connect with their innate intelligence. West’s teaching combines principles from alignment practices and therapeutic yoga; her years of work with osteopathic doctors allow her to apply yoga to many different people and conditions.

The workshop will be held Saturday, June 7 and Sunday, June 8, with sessions both days from 9 to 11:30 am. and 1:30 to 3:30pm. The cost for the full weekend is $135. Registration is restricted to the full weekend up until two weeks before the event.

Availability will then open for individual sessions at the rate of $50 per morning session and $40 per afternoon session. Contact karene@vail.net with questions or to sign up.

Synergy Center for Wellness is located at 160 West Beaver Creek Boulevard in Avon, in the Sheraton building across from the Post Office.
