VAIL — Fashion designer Elizabeth Roberts partners with the Vail Breast Cancer Awareness Group for an event at Perch in Vail on Tuesday from 2 to 8 p.m. Roberts has been raising awareness for breast cancer for the last 20 years. In 1994, she left her job at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and took off on a one-woman, 4,450 mile bike trek across the country to raise awareness for breast cancer and funds for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
She continues to support the cause, contributing to the research of Seattle-based specialist, Dr. Julie Gralow, along with other organizations spearheading breast cancer research and support services. Robert’s mother, Erna Friedel, has been a breast cancer survivor since her diagnosis in 2007.
“I’m so excited to be in Vail celebrating this monumental, 20 year milestone with the Vail Breast Cancer Awareness Group,” Roberts said. “This is a cause near and dear to my heart and together we can amplify this message.”
Robert’s ER Collection features unique styles with signature sustainable fabrics, weather protection and a patent-pending SMARTSHIELD™ pocket for cell phones (most styles), which reduces absorption rate of harmful radiation by 98.8 percent, without compromising the ability to transmit and receive data and phone calls.
“We have created a special edition of our signature pieces in blush to specifically support breast cancer awareness,” Roberts said. “These pieces, as well as a selection from our fall collection, will be showcased at Perch on Tuesday, from 2 to 8 p.m., directly following the VBCAG 20th Anniversary Luncheon. Fifteen percent of all sales at Perch will go directly to VBCAG. We hope to see you there!”
