Gipsy Moon featuring Silas Herman (the son of Vince Herman of Leftover Salmon)plays Agave in Avon
tonight at 10 p.m. This five-piece band has traditional bluegrass instrumentation (plus recently added a cello) with David Matters on vocals and banjo, Mackenzie Page on vocals, guitar, washboard and occasional banjo, Andrew Conley on the cello, Colin Huff on upright bass and vocals and Silas Herman on the mandolin and guitar. Some folks are calling it Gypsy Rock, some Gypsygrass (which is what the band calls itself), but it is an incredibly diverse blend of influences from Celtic to Eastern European to jazz on top of old-fashioned bluegrass and American folk. Tickets are $5. For more information, call 970-748-8666 or visit agaveavon.com.
