Free concert in Edwards Monday features 13 singers who completed the American Singer Intensive Workshop

Douglas Webster leads a group of aspiring musical theater singers to present a showcase of current and classic Broadway show tunes at the Edwards Interfaith Chapel on Monday evening at 6. The show is free. Donations will be accepted to fund future American Singer Intensive Workshop scholarships.

Webster returns to Colorado with his American Singer Showcase. Originating the program in Breckenridge in 1999, Webster has guided the careers of young performers now performing on Broadway, in theaters across the United States, on film and television. Appearing in Vail with both the Colorado and Dallas Symphony orchestras, Webster made his Broadway debut in “Les Miserables” and returns to the role of Jean Valjean this season for performances in Arkansas and Arizona.

The concert will feature 13 singers who have completed the American Singer Intensive Workshop, a professional training program for aspiring musical theater singers in Fort Collins.

The purpose of the workshop is to take young professional singers and polish their performances during the 10-day workshop. Faculty are drawn from professionals who have performed with The Metropolitan Opera, Broadway, national tours, cruise lines and regional theaters and orchestras across the United States.

Former ASMTI participants include Sierra Boggess (“Little Mermaid” and “Masterclass,” Broadway; “Love Never Dies” and “Les Miserables,” London) and 2012 Tony Award nominee Josh Young (“Jesus Christ Superstar,” Broadway).
