Betty Ford Alpine Garden’s Chefs in the Gardens series returns to Vail Thursday

VAIL — The Betty Ford Alpine Gardens opens a new season of its popular cooking demonstrations, Chefs in the Gardens, with chef Richard Bailey and Taste 5 Catering on Thursday beginning at noon.
Bailey is a local favorite known for his clever use of ingredients and his ability to surprise and delight guests with inspiring dishes. Every food creation is prepared from scratch, using the freshest seasonal ingredients, organic and Colorado products. On Thursday, the class will feature Asian watermelon with rice crispy puffs, roasted beet salad and gluten-free cookies.
“I was inspired to prepare these dishes by the produce and products available at the farmers market,” Bailey said.
Bailey was raised in the Sonoma Valley. He appreciates an array of savory dishes, but his culinary interests focus on California cuisine with an Asian flair. His culinary career spans more than 30 years, sharing eight of these years in Vail as executive chef at the Lodge at Cordillera and executive chef at Lord Gore at Manor Vail Lodge.
Today, Bailey operates chef-owned Taste 5 Catering, a popular catering company serving Denver, Vail and Summit County.
The Alpine Gardens is a delightful venue to come and relax, taste some great food, learn some new cooking tips and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Limited seats are available and the cost is $5.
