VAIL — Betty Ford Alpine Gardens Chefs in the Gardens series continues Thursday with a Japanese flair. Matsuhisa sous chef Mark Dinh will demonstrate his talents at noon in the gardens. The cost is $5 and includes samples of a delectable dish. Located in the Solaris building, Matsuhisa is known for world-class sushi as well as traditional Japanese cuisine blended with South American ingredients.
Dinh started his career in the culinary world at the age of 16 as a sushi apprentice at Restaurant Japon in Denver. He continued his training at one of the premier culinary schools in the world, The Culinary Institute of America, where he received an associate degree in culinary arts. With this knowledge and desire about seafood, the Matsuhisa family was an ideal location to progress.
“It is always fun to host a cooking demonstration in the gardens. The beautiful location and the helpful garden staff make the event an easy crowd pleaser,” Dinh said.

Betty Ford Alpine Gardens is celebrated as the highest elevation botanical garden in the world. Located in Ford Park and an easy walk from the center of Vail, the gardens is home to approximately 3,000 species of high altitude plants and is the National Alpine Collection of Colorado.
