MINTURN — Thursday night is your last chance to get your groove on at the Minturn Concert Series. With schools back in session, there could not be a better show to go to with your kids. Twelve-year-old Jaden Carlson will perforom tonight at 6 p.m. Carlson’s musicianship on the guitar and songwriting is impressive. To date, she has recorded three CD’s of original songs, the latest, “Born To Fly,” a live acoustic project released in August 2012.
Possessing an amazing ear and an insatiable love for playing and performing, Carlson’s repertoire includes her originals, as well as many covers by John Scofield, Herbie Hancock, Grant Green, Jimi Hendrix, The Meters, Dave Brubeck, Jaco Pastorius, Eric Clapton, Bill Withers, Sam Cooke, Buddy Guy, John Mayer, John Lennon, Pink Floyd, The Grateful Dead, The Beatles, Eminem, Led Zepellin, and many more.
She has performed with Michael Franti & Spearhead, John Popper and Blues Traveler, Groundation, Giant Panda Guerilla Dubsquad, Great American Taxi, Curtis Salgado, Roy Wooten, and Melvin Seals & JGB, as well as many other numerous notable musicians and bands. The Jaden Carlson Band is comprised of different musicians of national touring status.
Carlson has the honor of being the youngest artist/musician to play at Red Rocks, having sat in with Michael Franti and Spearhead at their sold-out 2013 show, and again with John Popper and Blues Traveler at the annual Fourth of July Red Rocks show. She has performed at national venues such as the Fox and Boulder Theaters in Boulder, the Ogden, Fillmore, Bluebird and Gothic Theaters and Cervantes in Denver, The Belly Up in Aspen, The Aggie and Hodi’s in Fort Collins, the House of Blues in San Diego, and at numerous festivals across the country (Telluride Blues & Brews, Power To The Peaceful, New West Bohemian Nights, ARISE Festival, Telluride Jazz Celebration, Nedfest, Blues From The Top and more). Carlson has also worked as an invited instructor at a Summer School of Rock Camp, and has performed for many benefits.
The concert is rain or shine. Cans of 3.2 percent alcohol beer is allowed, but there is no glass permitted in the park. The final after party will be held at Kirby Cosmos in Minturn.
