BEAVER CREEK — Jim Gaffigan, one of the top five most successful touring comedians in the country today, brings his stand-up comedy to the Vilar Performing Arts Center stage on Sunday.
Gaffigan’s CDs and DVDs have reached platinum sales, and he has had a number of appearances on late night’s “Letterman” and “Conan” television shows.
Jim Gaffigan has had guest appearances on many comedies and dramas, ranging from “Portlandia” to HBO’s “Flight of the Concords” and “Bored to Death,” to dramatic roles in all three versions of “Law & Order.” In recent years, Gaffigan has also become a mainstay in film with roles in “Going the Distance”, “Away We Go” and “It’s Kind of a Funny Story.”
Gaffigan’s latest venture, a download of his comedy special “Mr. Universe,” launched on April 11 for $5, was nominated for a Grammy in the Best Comedy Album category. One dollar of each download goes to the Bob Woodruff Foundation, helping wounded servicemen and their families.
‘Dad is Fat’
In May 2013, Jim’s first book, “Dad is Fat,” debuted as a New York Times bestseller.
“It’s all about the joys and horrors of my life with my five young children,” Gaffigan said. “I’m not sure if it’s a memoir, a confession, an apology or cry for help but Jeannie and friends have told me it’s really funny.”
