John Legend wraps up the winter season at the VPAC with sold-out concert
April 4, 2014
BEAVER CREEK — One of the industry's most innovative artists, nine-time Grammy Award winner John Legend will perform to a sold-out house at the Vilar Performing Arts Center in Beaver Creek on Monday night.
Legend won his first Grammy Award with 2004's "Get Lifted." The album went platinum, thanks in part to the hit single "Ordinary People." To quote music industry pioneer Quincy Jones, Legend is simply "a genius." Writing about Legend for Time's 2009 tally of the 100 most influential people, Jones noted, "We've seen only the tip of the iceberg. For what he has already achieved in his career, it is going to be fun watching where he goes from here."
Now Legend returns after five years with his fourth solo album, "Love in the Future." Taking R&B-soul to the next level, Legend creates an immersive experience about romance, love, hope, commitment and optimism. Enhancing the experience is a rich, melodic soundscape — accented by compelling interludes — that fully integrates the musician's gospel and pop influences, classical training and unerring hip-hop and soul sensibilities. According to Legend, his "All Of Me Tour" will be unlike any tour he's done before: intimate, raw and unplugged.
"John Legend is the perfect close to our dynamic winter season," said Kris Sabel, executive director for the Vilar Performing Arts Center. "He is such an accomplished singer-songwriter, musician and producer and is precisely the world-class caliber of performer we aim to present at the VPAC. We feel honored to have him in our hall and cannot wait for April 7."
Tickets for Legend's "The All of Me Tour: Intimate, Acoustic and Stripped" are sold out. Please contact the VPAC Box Office at 970-845-8497 to be placed on the waiting list.
