VAIL — Troy Froman, executive chef at La Tour Restaurant in Vail, heads up the Chefs in the Gardens cooking demonstration series at Betty Ford Alpine Gardens in Vail today at noon. The class is $5 and teaches culinary secrets from some of Vail's most notable chefs. Samples of the delectable dishes are included.
Following the theme of sensational summer dishes, Froman will prepare a compressed watermelon salad and discuss what a vacuum sealer does to a melon, how to pickle red onions and how to cook with the buttery, Italian burrata cheese.
ABOUT TROY FROMAN
Froman is a graduate from the Art Institute of Denver. His culinary talents enabled him to rise quickly to the position of executive chef with Ruth's Chris Steak House first in Jacksonville, Florida and then he transferred to Boston, Massachusetts. Following his roots and looking to expand his kitchen talents, Froman moved back to Colorado to accept the position as executive kitchen manager at the White Chocolate Grill and then served as the executive chef at Great Northern.
In September 2013, Froman moved to Vail to take the head chef position at La Tour, where he has continues to solidify the restaurant's reputation as one of Vail's fine dining establishments.
