Five longtime local artists are hosting a five-woman art show during the upcoming holiday weekend.
Patty Dixon, Joan Norris, Valerie Hays, Andrea Roth Moore and Mary Williams will be on hand at 137 Main Street in The Riverwalk at Edwards for the “5 Woman Art Show.”
Dixon, a longtime Vail resident, has spent the past 35 years working in interior design. She said she discovered art as a means of expression, utilizing house paint as her medium.
“Abstract art is just plain fun, as it manifests great joy and peace,” Dixon said.
Norris paints local landscapes and flowers of Vail Valley gardens. She was a former painting teacher at Colorado Mountain College and has lived in the valley 35 years. Her work was part of the recent Red Cliff Studio Tour.
Hays is a former valley resident and is currently co-owner of Dutch and Ollie at The Barn, Antiques and Specialty Shops in Castle Rock. Her artworks include paintings in both oil and acrylic and painted paper-board sculpture. She is a faux and decorative painter who also restores, refinishes and hand paints furniture.
Roth Moore has been a portrait painter and muralist in the valley for more than 30 years. Her current endeavor is “Hot Cars in Cool Places.”
Williams is a sculptor specializing in public art and hand-carved painted reliefs. Her work can be seen throughout the U.S. in public places such as hospitals, parks, educational institutions and corporate businesses.
“I believe creating works for public spaces is a wonderful way to engage an audience who might not have the opportunities to visit galleries and museums,” Williams said.
