September 11, 2013
BEAVER CREEK — On Sunday, the Vilar Performing Arts Center hosts a musical parody of "Fifty Shades of Grey" with "50 Shades! The Musical" at 8 p.m. Tickets are on sale for $65.
The "50 Shades of Grey" trilogy has shattered sales records around the globe with more than 32 million copies sold in the United States alone and a Universal Pictures feature film release on the way. A sexy, hilarious romp, "50 Shades! The Musical" is a laugh-out-loud night of fun that audiences won't want to miss.
The musical's plot
The show opens with a ladies book club deciding to read "50 Shades of Grey." Through their interpretation of the novel, the audience is led on a hilarious roller-coaster ride of this unlikely best-seller.
The show is full of dance numbers, 11 original songs and a live band backing the performance. Original songs include "They Get Nasty," "I Don't Make Love, I F***," and "There's a Hole Inside of Me".
Like the book series, the musical is not for those younger than 18, but it does not cross boundaries that would make general audiences squirm.
To celebrate the debut of this smash hit, the Vilar Center is inviting ladies to get a group together and enjoy a fun day out. The "Pamper Yourself Ladies Day Package," priced at $110, includes a discounted ticket to "50 Shades! The Musical," plus a spa day at Allegria Spa in Beaver Creek from 4 to 6 p.m. on Sunday. Package participants can choose from a 25-minute Swedish massage, 30-minute custom facial or express manicure and pedicure, along with complimentary Aqua Sanitas (prior to treatment), locker room with vanity access and one complimentary glass of champagne upon spa check-in. Light appetizers will also be available at the Spa Cafe.
Book now through the Vilar Performing Arts Center, and once purchase has been made, contact Allegria Spa at 970-748-7500 to make your treatment choice and time slot reservation.
The show "50 Shades! The Musical" is produced by Marshall Cordell, Albert Samuels and Emily Dorezas. Tickets are $65 and are on sale now and available online at http://www.vilarpac.org, by phone at 970-845-TIXS or in person at the VPAC Box Office in Beaver Creek.
