Undoubtedly, warm-hearted memories about Dad are swirling around now that summer is finally upon us. Whether it’s your first experience racing him down the mountain or catching rainbow trout on an inaugural fly-fishing weekend, Dad has invested time into being your parent and deserves a little R&R this Father’s Day weekend. While a heartfelt card and new tie are always appreciated, Dad’s lifetime of servitude to your scraped knees, driving lessons and late nights of worrying merit a gift that truly expresses your love and gratitude.

Mountain ‘me’ time

Help “yoke” his mind and body at Revolution Power Yoga in Eagle-Vail. This Father’s Day, the hot yoga studio offers a Dad’s Day package ($125), which includes a yoga mat amd two classes. If Dad is already a yogi at heart, sign him up for one of the SUP Yoga Workshops ($45 for the public; $35 for Athletic Club at The Westin members, paddle boards included) at The Westin Riverfront. Taught by Julie Circo, this new class will challenge Dad’s balance, core, endurance and focus. SUP Yoga Workshop dates include: June 17, July 11, July 25, Aug. 8 and Aug. 22 from 8 to 9:15 a.m. Pre-registration is required: 970-790-2051. Top off his Namaste and book him for a Spa Anjali Ponderosa Pine Therapy Treatment ($185 for 75 minutes, Spa Anjali at The Westin Riverfront), which borrows ancient Native American remedies to treat inflammation and muscle pain. Incorporating deep tissue massage and light stretching, a heated poultice filled with sage, pine and lavender is used to alleviate tension. Maybe he is an at-home coiffeur? The Age Defying Kit from Skin Authority MAN ($124, The Ritz-Carlton, Bachelor Gulch) will give him a glowing complexion.

If your Dad is not the beautinista, spa-going type, then tap into his love for the great outdoors and outfit him for the next fly-fishing adventure. Begin with the Black Canyon Backpack ($179.95, Minturn Anglers, Gore Creek Fly Fisherman, Vail Valley Anglers). The supportive exterior frame comfortably carries a significant load, and the fabric is eco-friendly as it is made from recycled commercial fishing nets. If he is headed to Fryingpan, Crystal or Roaring Fork Rivers, then the Redington Topo Outfit ($199.95, Minturn Anglers, Gore Creek Fly Fisherman, Vail Valley Anglers) will set him up for a fishing success. The Redington Topo Outfit comes equipped with the fly rod, reel pre-spooled with line and leader, a case, a spool of tippet, nippers, and even a box of six flies. All Dad needs is a fishing license and he is good to explore.

As any son or daughter knows, the real birthplace of relaxation for Dad is the backyard grill. Let him be the king of barbecue once again with Red Canyon Spices’ BBQ Pack ($50, Red Canyon Spices), which will help dear old Dad create mouthwatering summer cuisine. Dress him from head-to-toe

There is no denying that a Joe Cool pop dressed to the nines is something to be proud of. If yours needs a little extra help in the fashion department, then give him his own definition of mountain chic. While your alpine dad is out and about town or swapping stories at your Father’s Day BBQ, protect Dad and give him the opportunity to look mega-mountain chic. The Howler Brothers Rooster Gaucho Snapshirt ($80, Vail Valley Anglers) will give him that cool cowboy-meets-angler look that is super-stylish, comfy and complete with UPF sun protection. In addition, if Dad is going on a last minute fishing trip, this shirt is wrinkle-resistant and can easily be stuffed into his duffle bag. And, don’t forget the shades! The Optic Nerve Axel sunglasses ($65, Christy Sports) in Flash Black with Blue Zaio lenses combines lightweight comfort, long-lasting durability, precision optics and polarized performance all based on Optic Nerve’s signature 4-point frame fit technology.

Toast Dad!

Most likely Dad haunts quite a few stomping grounds in the Vail Valley. If Maya at The Westin Riverfront Beaver Creek is in his repertoire, he will be delighted with the restaurant’s personal bottle storage ($250) for patrons and resort guests. For the locals, purchase a bottle of tequila or liquor and Maya will gladly store it for you in one its lockers with your personalized nametag attached. In addition, when you purchase a bottle or locker, Maya will give Dad “special access cards,” which allows his BFFs to have a drink on him whenever they visit Maya. While Dad is enjoying a bottle of Ley .925 Tequila Pasion Azteca Ultra Premium Anejo ($225,000, Ley .925) with friends, a premium cigar for the boys is in order. Keep cigars fresh and tasty, in the Sage METHOD Humidor ($50, Minturn Anglers, Gore Creek Fly Fisherman, Vail Valley Anglers).

If his palate doesn’t require putting a down payment on post-hike libation, then go for the simpler Mountainsmith Deluxe Cooler ($49.95, Ptarmingan Sports) to hold his favorite Colorado craft beer. The portable, insulated cooler has a drop-down beverage holders for spill-free fun, pockets for stashing munchies and an extra bottle opener for his convenience.
