July 3, 2013
BEAVER CREEK — For more than three decades, Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo have been a power couple and a force to be reckoned with in the world of rock 'n' roll. To kickoff the summer season, the Vilar Performing Arts Center welcomes the dynamic duo on Tuesday at 8 p.m.
A true rule breaker and a trail-blazer, Benatar remains one of rock 'n' roll's most celebrated females. Beginning in Brooklyn, Benatar's powerful and distinctive voice has led her to international acclaim and a life-long career of success in her field. Recognized as the leading female voice of the '80s, she continues to deliver excellence both on the stage and in the recording studio with songs like "Love is a Battlefield," "Hit Me with Your Best Shot" and "We Belong," which are as unforgettable now as they were at the dawn of MTV.
Neil "Spyder" James Giraldo has been a professional musician, producer, arranger and songwriter for more than four decades now, changing the face of the pop charts throughout the 1980s. More than just an explosive steel-bending guitar player, Giraldo's innovative vision helped him create the signature Benatar sound with the help of Benatar, his collaborator, muse and wife.
Giraldo's impressive back catalog includes more than 100 songs written, produced, arranged and recorded for Benatar, as well as many hits he helped create for other artists including Rick Springfield, John Waite, Steve Forbert and Kenny Loggins.
Benatar and Giraldo are still bringing their passion and edge to the stage, receiving rave reviews across the country. Tuesday marks their only stop in Colorado.
"We are looking forward to a phenomenal performance from this duo," said Vilar Performing Arts Center's Executive Director Kris Sabel. "Their legacy lives on and continues to grow, separating them from many other stars of the '80s. This is one of those shows that is going to have the crowd on their feet."
Tickets are available online at http://www.vilarpac.org, by phone at 970-845-TIXS or in person at the VPAC Box Office in Beaver Creek.
