VAIL — The Vail Film Festival presents the second of its Winter Screening Series today with "Barista," a documentary that follows five top baristas as they push the limits of coffee perfection to win the National Barista Championship.

"Once a year, thousands of baristas square off in competitions around the U.S., but only one will become the national champion," according to the film synopsis. "'Barista' is a humorous, emotional and enlightening look into the unimaginable world of coffee competitions and the passionate, lovable and quirky characters that devote their lives to them. 'Barista' will take you beyond the drink and shine a light on a unique world very few of us ever knew existed."

The film, directed and written by Rock Baijnauth, is 1 hour, 43-minutes long. It currently has an 86 percent audience approval rating on http://www.rottentomatoes.com. The screening will take place today at noon at CineBistro in Vail. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the door or online at http://www.vailfilmfestival.com/winterseries.

The Winter Screening Series comes to a close on Saturday, March 26, with the Oscar-nominated film "Youth," an Italian comedic drama that follows Fred (Michael Caine), a retired composer and conductor, who vacations at a Swiss spa with his longtime friend Mick (Harvey Keitel). As Mick crafts what may be his final screenplay, Fred is given the opportunity to perform for the Queen.

The 13th annual Vail Film Festival returns April 7 to 10. Organizers recently announced the lineup for the festival, which will showcase 67 films from around the world, including narrative features, documentaries, short films, student films and a Hong Kong Film Showcase.
