“Audiences love musical theater, it’s one of the most popular things we present in our winter season,” said Kris Sabel, Vilar Center executive director. “Whether it’s a big, splashy, recent Broadway show with all the scenery, costumes and lighting or a simple review, all of these shows have one thing in common — they celebrate great songs and great voices. This winter, we have seven diverse shows that we’re very excited to bring to our community. I know we will have something for everyone.”
The Winter Broadway Series opens with an all-new show, “101 Years of Broadway” (Dec. 29), serving up one Broadway show-stopper after another. Next is “I’ve Got a Little Twist” (Jan. 27) honoring the legacy of Gilbert & Sullivan in American musical theater and “Great Voices: From Broadway to Opera” (Feb. 17) showing how opera arias transitioned into great Broadway hits, featuring singers backed by a full orchestra.
Continuing the Broadway extravaganza is a grownup’s prequel to “Peter Pan,” “Peter And The Starcatcher” (March 1), followed by the passionate and captivating story of “Camelot” (March 16).
Amazingly talented women shine in the last two shows headed to Beaver Creek: “Women of Ireland” (March 18) offers up a fiery Celtic performance, and then shout “Hallelujah!” for the new smash hit musical “Sister Act” (March 23).
