VAIL — Electronic musician, The Scumfrog, returns to Samana Lounge Friday night. Twenty five years after his first DJ gig, and 10 years since his first successful album, Jesse Houk, also known as The Scumfrog, goes back to his roots of psychedelic influences with his 2013 album, "In Case We're All Still Here," which mixes with a touch of sci-fi and steady groove. The album features "If I Ever Lose My Faith" with Sting, and it includes collaborations with Static Revenger, Vince Elliott, Vassy and Christian Burns.
Not particularly inspired by the commercial side effects of the high-profile music industry, The Scumfrog decided to retreat to the underground music scene in 2011 with the release of "A Place Where We Belong" on his Facebook page; a project that spawned singles on labels like "1605," "Floorplay," "Inkfish" and "Armada."
Prior to his renewed alliance with the underground music scene, The Scumfrog was mostly known for his stripped-down remixes of artists like Missy Elliott, New Order, Kylie Minogue and Annie Lennox, and his collaborations writing and producing techno-oriented works with David Bowie and Cyndi Lauper.
Local artist adamROSS will lead the night with a "playa tech" opening show.
