December 19, 2013
VAIL — Vail Holidaze returns to Vail Village starting Friday and continues through Sunday and then on Dec. 31. Vail comes alive with lights, sounds, events and cheer during December. Events include Winter Solstice on Ice, a holiday ice skating show featuring world-class and Olympic ice skaters, Vail Tree Lighting as part of Logan Luminescence presented by Triumph Winterfest and the annual New Year's Eve Torchlight Parade and Fireworks.
Winter Solstice on Ice, which takes place Friday and Saturday, brings world-class ice skaters, including U.S. Figure Skating Champion Ryan Bradley, to the heart of Vail Village to perform singles, pairs and group programs. All Winter Solstice on Ice performances will take place on the ice rink in Solaris Plaza in Vail Village and are free and open to the public. Winter Solstice on Ice begins at 5 p.m. each evening.
New this year, is the opening of the seventh annual Triumph Winterfest's Logan Luminescence, including Vail's Tree Lighting, on Sunday at 5 p.m. This family holiday celebration will bring the community together to celebrate the season of light at the Logan Luminescence ice installation. A short holiday stage program will include live entertainment, appearances by the Mayor of Vail, Art in Public Places and of course the lighting of Vail's holiday tree by the Covered Bridge in Vail Village. Complimentary hot chocolate will be served as guests ring in the holiday season.
A Vail tradition on New Year's Eve is the Torchlight Parade and Fireworks. Come watch skiers and boarders form a glowing train as they ride down Golden Peak. Viewing for this spectacle will take place at the base of Golden Peak at approximately 6:15 p.m. Fireworks will light up the sky directly after the parade.
