Spend Wednesday night with The Wailers

BEAVER CREEK — The Vilar Performing Arts Center in Beaver Creek welcomes The Wailers on Wednesday as part of the 30th anniversary of the band’s “Legend” tour.

Celebrating the 30th anniversary of its hit release in 1984, The Wailers will perform the album “Legend” in its entirety. Named by Time magazine as the Best Album of the 20th Century and No. 46 on Rolling Stone magazine’s 500 Greatest Albums of All Time, “Legend” is also the best-selling reggae album of all-time, with more than 30 million copies sold worldwide.

Together with reggae-legend Bob Marley, The Wailers have sold more than 250 million albums and have performed live for an estimated 24 million people across the globe.

The anchor of the band is Aston “Family Man” Barrett, who was co-producer on many of Marley’s records and was responsible for almost all of the bass lines on Marley’s hits. Barrett will be joined on stage by Keith Sterling (keyboards), Dwayne Danglin (lead vocals), Cegee Victory (backing vocals), Audley “Chizzy” Chisholm (guitar), Drummie Zeb (drums) and Aston Barrett Jr. (organ).

The Wailers are known to be “the greatest living exponents of Jamaica’s reggae tradition,” said Kris Sabel, executive director for the Vilar Performing Arts Center. “It’s exciting to have the group that defined their genre of music for generations to come perform in our intimate hall. We expect Wednesday to be a memorable evening for our audience.”
