Local retailer donates to bladder cancer on Saturday

NEW YORK — Women’s clothing designer Nina McLemore, Inc. announces their support of the Walk for Bladder Cancer by offering 10 percent of sales made on Saturday in any of their retail stores to benefit BCAN — Bladder Cancer Research and Awareness. This includes the Nina McLemore store located in Vail.

There will be walks in 70 cities around the country to raise funds for this organization, which is the only organization devoted to creating awareness and funding research for this relatively unknown form of cancer. The foundation was started eight years ago by Diane and John Quale, both lawyers of Washington, D.C., when he was diagnosed with bladder cancer and could find little information or support.

Bladder cancer is the sixth most commonly diagnosed cancer in the U.S. Approximately 15,000 people will die from this disease this year alone. One out of 42 people will be diagnosed with Bladder Cancer during their lifetime. Find more information at www.bcan.org.

Nina McLemore is a designer of elegant women’s apparel for professionals and women who are leaders in their community.
