Summer School of Rock day camp, benefit concert returns

MINTURN — The Education Foundation of Eagle County is offering a musical day camp for children ages 8-12. Each day, campers will participate in three hours of musical instruction and at the end of the camp, showcase their melodic accomplishments in a concert. Kids will also enjoy yoga, musical meditation, hula hooping, art and face painting. Each child will receive a steel Ef(ec) water bottle, T-shirt, ukulele and music notebook.

The camp will be lead by longtime local musician Jake Wolf. Wolf was a Grammy nominee for music education.


Children who have participated in the camp will also have the opportunity to perform on Aug. 23 at the Little Beach Amphitheater for the Ef(ec) Summer School of Rock Benefit Concert featuring Rob Eaton, of Dark Star Orchestra; Ron Eaton Jr., of Drunken Hearts; Jake Wolf; and Tyler Grant, of Grant Farms Band. Moe’s Bar B Que and drinks will be available for purchase. The proceeds from the concert benefits Eagle County Schools’ elementary music education programming.

The purpose of Ef(ec) is to make recommendations to and to work in conjunction with the Eagle County Schools to retain good teachers, maintain smaller class sizes, improve teacher-student ratios and protect vital programs and curricula that have been or are in danger of being reduced or eliminated.
