‘Living Long and Strong’ health discussion set for Sunday in Vail

VAIL — In a continued effort to provide current health education and insight, the Vail Vitality Center and Vail Valley Medical Center are partnering to introduce a summer lecture series focused on “optimizing life.” The next lecture, entitled “Living Long and Strong: Building a Strong Structure for Longevity” and presented by Mark J. Pitcher, takes place on Sunday at noon at the Vail Vitality Center and includes lunch at Terra Bistro restaurant.

During his lecture, Pitcher discusses how a good foundation of movement and a well-constructed exercise program can lead to improved strength and endurance, helping to fight back the hands of time.

“Everyone ages, but aging well sometimes takes work,” said Pitcher, a chiropractor and exercise physiologist at Vail Integrative Medical Group. “There is good research to support the role exercise plays in aging well. Exercise can improve bone health, body composition, quality of muscle tissue, disability from arthritis, brain function and even skin health.”

This interactive workshop helps participants use self-assessments to identify weakness and imbalance, and understand what elements of exercise may be of most benefit for specific individual goals. Cost for the lecture and lunch at Terra Bistro restaurant is $40.

The Summer Lecture Series is hosted by the Vail Vitality Center in partnership with VVMC. Pre-registration is required at least 24 hours prior to each session. For more information and registration, contact the Vail Vitality Center at 970-476-7721 or visit www.vailvitalitycenter.com.

Pitcher is a sports chiropractor, exercise physiologist and EMT with Vail Integrative Medical Group located at the Vail Vitality Center. He specializes in rehabilitative medicine. For more information, visit www.vailhealth.com or www.vailvitalitycenter.com.
