BEAVER CREEK — The Vilar Performing Arts Center invites theater lovers to enjoy Broadway’s hit show “Peter and the Starcatcher” on Sunday at 6:30 p.m. “Peter and the Starcatcher” is a five-time Tony Award winning play in which a dozen brilliant actors play more than 100 unforgettable characters. This swashbuckling grownup prequel to Peter Pan will have you hooked from the moment you let your imagination take flight.

“Peter and the Starcatcher” is the innovative and imaginative musical play based on the best-selling novel by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson. The company of actors takes you on a journey to answer the century-old question: How did Peter Pan become the boy who never grew up?

This epic origin story of one of popular culture’s most enduring and beloved characters proves that your imagination is the most captivating place in the world. This musical play features music by Wayne Barker, who received a Tony Award nomination and a Drama Desk Award for his work on the show.

Set designer Donyale Werle, who won the 2012 Tony Award for “Peter and the Starcatcher,” is a leader at the Broadway Green Alliance and has gained much acclaim for her use of salvaged materials in her sets. The Broadway set was made almost entirely of recycled materials.

In the spirit of “Peter and the Starcatcher’s” Tony Award-winning sustainable set design, the producers invited the venues on the tour route to contribute reusable items to help build the tour proscenium. Some of the items that were donated include wine and champagne corks, small children’s toy figures, bottle caps, old silverware, used rope, buttons and whopper poppers, cords, aluminum can lids, old cooking tools, tin can tops, balls and paper tubes.
