BEAVER CREEK — The Vilar Performing Arts Center is once again expressing its love for the locals this fall with its Underground Sound series. Created to help fans discover new music from up-and-coming, as well as established artists you may not know, the venue is offering seven nights of music discovery, with a drink at each show, for $100.
The $100 Underground Sound access pass is now available for purchase. The pass is completely transferable and available through the first performance on Sept. 29 (individual tickets will also go on sale for each performance).
Locals can enjoy an even better deal this year with the Underground Sound Discover The Music Kick-Off Concert, taking place Sept. 7 at the Vilar Performing Arts Center at 6:30 p.m. The party will feature a concert by Bonfire Dub featuring Bridget Law, from Elephant Revival, playing on the Vilar Center stage at 7:30 p.m., along with drink specials all evening. Tickets to the party are free to pass holders (who will get eight shows, eight drinks for the same price of $100) and $5 advance/$10 at door for non-pass holders.
“Purchasing this pass, whether for you or as a gift for someone else, offers a great chance to discover phenomenal new music in our spectacular hall,” said Kris Sabel, executive director for the Vilar Performing Arts Center. “I believe that these intimate singer-songwriter type artists are the best way to truly experience our venue and enjoy the music. This pass is affordable and easy to share with others — stop by our kick-off party on Sept. 7, give the pass a try this year and experience just how special and unique a show at the VPAC can be.”
Following the kick-off party, the Underground Sound series starts Sept. 29 with von Grey, a four-piece all-sisters quartet and Americana masterpiece. Other highlights on the series include Chris Thile, of Punch Brothers; quintessential Irish-American band Solas; Shamrock City; American Idol winner Lee DeWyze; and Nashville-based, acoustic American band Nora Jane Struthers & The Party Line.
“If you purchase a pass before our kick-off party, you’re getting eight shows at $12.50 a piece, not to mention a free drink at each of those shows,” Sabel said. “This is a low-risk way to discover new music and enjoy some incredible shows with us this fall.”
Tickets for the VPAC’s 2013 Underground Sound Series are on sale now and available online at vilarpac.org, by phone at 970-845-TIXS or in person at the VPAC Box Office in Beaver Creek.
